In Turkey, there are three main quince varieties widely cultivated: Eşme, Limon, and Ekmek quince. Eşme quince is a variety native to the Marmara Region. Juicy and slightly tart, it is one of the most common quince types found in the country. Ekmek quince is another widely grown variety, sharing many characteristics with other quince types and known for its balanced qualities. Limon quince, which has gained popularity in recent years, is also widely cultivated. Its name comes from its slightly tart, lemon-like taste. Among these, the Eşme variety is the most demanded for export and has the longest storage life, making it highly preferred in international markets.
